What our parents say

About Our School

Our Work with ‘Action Your Potential’

What our parents/carers said about our Partnership with Action Your Potential – this academic year they have provided parent/carer workshops and provided 1-2-1 support for both Year10 and Key Stage 5 students in support of exam preparation and academic success.

‘I am so pleased that we have been able to access these sessions with Ian. Before Jake started these sessions, he - and I - were feeling overwhelmed by the task of revising. The sessions with Ian have helped Jake to start learning a process that appears to feel manageable for him. Through observing Jake since starting the sessions, what I have noticed is that his confidence in his capacity to revise and prepare for exams appears to be growing and he has actually sat down to work with minimal fuss and been productive. Jake had a well-being session with Ian that has helped him to link health and well-being with his capacity to study and work and this has triggered some useful conversations at home which I hope will be a catalyst for positive change. I would highly recommend these sessions with Action Your Potential’.

Year 10 Parent

"Thank you so much for the workshop on Building Confidence and Resilience, for ages my son has battled low mood and anxiety, and your input spoke to that experience.  Someone gets it, I thought.  I have booked a 1:1 and am really looking forward to the work together to support my son change his brain."

Year 8 Parent

"I found the 1:1 so helpful and you shared so many positive strategies to help me help her prepare for her GCSEs next year. The offer of working with her directly was unexpected but enormously welcome and I know she very much enjoyed the first session".

Year 10 Parent

"The connection you established with my son in the first meeting was amazing, he felt listened to, understood and whilst he was very worried before the conversation he was so pleased afterwards.  He is reading the book you recommended, and I know he is so keen to learn all about his brain".

Year 10 parent

I am happy to share my testimonial for the great exam anxiety, study and time management coaching my daughter received from Ian from AYP. Before starting the coaching sessions, my daughter was overwhelmed with the workload, stress and anxiety, which severely impacted her ability to perform to the best of her potential. She was recommended for support with AYP by her teacher.

From the very first session with me as a parent present, her coach Ian established a warm and supportive relationship, making her feel comfortable and understood. My daughter can be very shy; therefore, it was very important that she would get along with her coach. Ian took the time to listen attentively to her goals, aspirations, and challenges.

He taught her effective revision strategies using the study reps, breaking down big aspirations into smaller, actionable steps and also introduced the 12 rocks of wellbeing. With his guidance, she learned to plan her study time effectively by creating a revision map, ensuring that she remained focused and motivated throughout revision and exam period. These practical skills not only helped her excel academically but will also prepare her for the demands of higher education and beyond.

Moreover, Ian served as a source of constant encouragement and support. With his guidance, she developed a resilient mindset, learning to bounce back from failures and stay committed to her long-term goals. His unwavering belief in her abilities and his motivation during the sessions and also in his much appreciated feedback emails after each session were truly instrumental in her success.

I can highly recommend Action Your Potential coaching to any Year 13 student seeking to unlock their potential. This coaching experience helped my daughter undoubtedly to get through the stressful A-level exam period’.
